Using our strengths on a daily basis to increase our well-being and our performance at work: Concepts and Directions

Jacques Forest, Organizational Psychologist and CRHA

Professor, School of Management Science at UQAM

Over the past few years, positive psychology research increasingly demonstrates that individuals who recognize and make conscious use of their personal strengths derive many benefits, from increased well-being to reduced depressive symptoms. We can play a key role in identifying and developing these strengths in our clients and interlocutors, but also in ourselves. This training will begin with an overview of the foundations of positive psychology, the various theoretical bases underlying our strengths, as well as a Values in Action inventory of strengths. The second part will address specific interventions based on strengths. Interventions with scientifically validated results will be presented, then proposed models of intervention will be discussed. Finally, the workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to optimize the application of these concepts to themselves, their employees and other relations.

Objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, the participants will be able to understand what a strength is, state the means available to professionals and managers to identify their own strengths and those of their colleagues, clients or staff, as well as describe the steps proposed in key documents to develop the use of these strengths in a work environment.

In order to take full advantage of this training, participants are invited to complete a questionnaire in advance, aimed at identifying their strengths.

Please confirm your attendance by email at info@rhwestisland.ca. Once you are registered, you will receive the procedures to complete the questionnaire identifying your strengths.
