Best Practices Case Study: Conducting Workplace Investigations

Steven Droz, CIRC

Principal, Steven Droz & Associates Inc.

Over the past few years, many organizations have been generating media headlines for all of the wrong reasons, including how they have managed workplace complaints and investigations. HR professionals can and must play a key role in ensuring that such investigations are conducted in an impartial and rigourous manner while respecting applicable policy and legal frameworks at all times.

This workshop will begin with a 30-minute round table discussion regarding any difficult investigations that participants wish to share with the Network. The rest of the workshop will be devoted to discussing and assessing a detailed case study supplied by Steven. While leading the discussions, Steven will share his investigative methodology and best practices which can be adapted to fit just about any workplace investigation.  Afterwards, conference participants will receive a copy Steven’s assessment of the case study.

Objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, the participants will understand the steps to take to ensure that only robust, compliant and defensible workplace investigations are undertaken by their firms, thus protecting the rights and reputations of all concerned.

Please review the case study beforehand and be ready to share your thoughts as to whether you agree or not with the investigative process / findings and why. Consider what you might have done differently, if anything, had you been the Investigator.

Please confirm your attendance by email at info@rhwestiland.ca. Once you are registered, you will receive the case study by email.
